Every project is different, but most facilities are completed in one to three days depending on the volume of archived film. How close to a loading dock, or another exit door to load the purged film impacts the timing. Are elevators needed? During your free assessment, we look at all of these factors and provide a realistic timeline for your specific project. The goal is to complete the project as fast as possible, that is also safe for our employees, and allows for accuracy if we are having to look at each file for retention dates.
No. Our team handles the entire process, including packing, loading, transportation, and secure destruction. We can take the film/files “in jacket” and sort them later at our certified refiner. Your staff can enjoy a completely hands-off position for the project, and stay focused on patient care while we do the work.
Yes! We take the responsibility of maintaining HIPAA compliance a top priority for your records. Every project follows a strict documented chain of custody. From lockable transportation containers, to secure shipping with security seals, to secure destruction protocols, we protect the PHI entrusted to us. You will receive a Certificate of Destruction for your records.
Silver recovery is based on the type of x-ray film collected as well as the total volume. The current spot silver price is then applied to the volume collected to get your contracted price per lb. rebated back to you. The refining process typically takes 60 days to be completed, after which, your rebate check will be sent. Until this process is complete, it is almost impossible to predetermine how much silver will be collected from your project.
There is no catch! It obviously costs a lot to provide all labor, shipping, destruction and shredding costs to handle a purging project for you. We leverage the value of the silver collected to cover these costs so that there is no out of pocket expense for your facility. If we are asked to handle other tasks associated with a purge where there is no silver based film being collected, we do charge for those services separately. However, this would all be clearly communicated at your free assessment and in the contract for service.
